Here are some ways you and your groups can help Alabama Baptist Children's Homes & Family Ministries:
(PLEASE NOTE: To protect the privacy of the children in the care of the Children's Homes, we limit opportunities where volunteers have direct interaction with the children.)
- Pray. Pray for our children, houseparents, relief houseparents, foster parents, respite care foster parents, other volunteers, social workers, professional counselors, and administrative staff.
- Promote a Mile of Pennies campaign in your church or community. A mile of pennies equals $840.88 and can provide 675 healthy meals for children this year.
- Collect and contribute Campbell's Soup labels. We need 1.5 million
label points to get a van.
Contribute department store gift cards to the Children's Homes for us to use year-round for many purposes. From children's birthday gifts and Christmas toys to food, cleaning supplies and winter clothes and coats, these cards help us, especially when a child first comes into care and typically has nothing but the clothes on his or her back.
- Host a linen shower for the Children's Homes! We constantly need to replace and add linens to our homes. We need solid-colored, twin-sized sheets, towels, washcloths, and kitchen towels.
- Collect and contribute new batteries. Especially at Christmastime, we need many batteries, including AA, AAA, C, D and 9-volt sizes.
- Contribute Christmas wrapping paper. We'll wrapping gifts all
over the state and wrapping paper, ribbon, bows, and Scotch tape will be welcomed!
